Codefry implemented a redundant, highly available private Google Earth Enterprise cluster to serve a private globe to over 700 Google Earth users. This project utilized three Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers containing over 150 distinct point, line, and polygon data layers, both static and real-time, from a wide variety of sources. The globe also contained internal 30 meters imagery for CONUS and 50 meters imagery for the rest of the world in order to provide base reference data in case of an Internet outage. Custom search functionality was provided using Python scripts to return KML from RESTful web services.
